Teacher's Day 2025

This blog is part of  Virtual  Teacher's Day Celebration.

Teacher’s Day in India (5 September):
In India, Teacher’s Day is celebrated every year on 5 September to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (1888–1975).

  • He was a great philosopher, scholar, teacher, and the second President of India.

  • When some of his students and friends wanted to celebrate his birthday, Dr. Radhakrishnan suggested: “Instead of celebrating my birthday separately, it would be my proud privilege if September 5 is observed as Teacher’s Day.”

  • Since then, this day is dedicated to honoring teachers for their contribution to education and society.

  • Why it matters: Teacher’s Day is not only about celebrating teachers in schools and colleges but also about remembering the value of education, respect, and lifelong learning.

Virtual Teacher’s Day & My Learning Activity

Hello Readers,
My name is Nishtha Desai, student of MKBU University, Department of English. This blog is a part of our Virtual Teacher’s Day celebration. Teacher’s Day is very special because it reminds us of the guidance, knowledge, and inspiration our teachers give us. Even though we are celebrating it virtually, it gives us a chance to express gratitude and creativity through different activities.

My Topic: Still I Rise by Maya Angelou

For this learning activity, I chose to work on the poem “Still I Rise” by the American poet Maya Angelou. I selected this poem because its message of resilience, strength, and hope touched me deeply. The poem shows how we can rise above negativity, discrimination, or challenges with confidence. It is not only about history but also about courage in our daily lives.

My Experience

While working on this project, I really enjoyed reading and analyzing the poem line by line. It made me think about how literature can inspire us even today. Choosing this subject was a wonderful experience because I could connect personally with the poet’s words.

I also made a YouTube video on this poem as part of the activity. To make it engaging, I used an effective background sound to create the right mood and to help viewers connect with the power of the poem.

Conclusion

This Teacher’s Day project gave me not only the chance to honor my teachers but also to learn something new through literature. Maya Angelou’s “Still I Rise” reminded me that education and knowledge always help us rise above difficulties.

Thank You...
