Analysis of the poem 'Lockdown '
* Introduction:
The poem ' Lockdown ' is written by poet Laureate simon Armitage. This poem is about the lockdown situation during Covid-19 with some examples by poet. It's Published in " The Gaurdian" on 21 March,2020.
*The first part of the poem:
In this poem , The poet discuss about two dreams. In the first part of the poem the poet talk about A hallucinating dream sequence of 1665-66 plague stricken village, Eyam.Here the poet firstly discuss about the situation of 1665-66 in London during plague. He told Black death place London. It means London become a death place. People dying on the road. Here the poet gives example of Kalidasa's "Meghdutam" also.
Then He discuss about the corona situation. The description of sanitizer, mask ,separation of family etc.Here he mention one story also. It's about the lover's separation during corona. The story of Rewald Torre and Emmott syddall.
* The second part of the poem:
Again Yaksh passing the cloud to his wife. The another way there are beauty of nature description. Dancing of beautiful peacock and wide wings crane. There are description of painted elephants. It represent Indian art and embroidery.

Here the poet mention the two eyes
* Major theme of the poem:
Here the major theme of the poem is the lockdown situation of people. Because the period during corona , people suffer a lot. The poet gives an example of Plague disease in London and he discuss about Meghdutam of Kalidasa.
So, we can say that here the poet discuss about the problems of people during corona period. The poet also mention the bamboo forest and snow hatted peaks, waterfalls , creeks. These all things represent the Indian art, culture and beauty.
